This is the Blog for John Shaw; Executive Director of the Westport Maritime Museum and Grays Harbor Lighthouse. Both are operated by the Westport South Beach Historical Society. In 2021 we added the Furford Cranberry Museum under our wing.  In the last eight years I have met and interacted with some phenomenal history and museology folks and in no way is “Museum Guy’ to be taken too literally. It came about as humorous response to what I would hear meeting folks along the South beach…..”oh yea, you are that Museum Guy.”

As we close out 2022 and head into a new year, I am going to pull forward some old posts and pieces and push into 2023 with some new and hopefully more consistent postings.
